Israel's private car imports drop slightly in Q3

Jerusalem (Israel), October 19: The number of private cars imported to Israel in the third quarter of 2022 totaled 58,121, a decrease of 2.54 percent year-on-year, according to data released by the Israel Tax Authority on Tuesday.
Given that several Israeli holidays, which would result in fewer workdays and imports, were observed in October of this year rather than September of last year, the number implies a steeper decline.
"The low numbers in recent months are due to difficulty in obtaining vehicle inventory," Tomer Hadar, an automotive editor for Calcalist, Israel's largest financial newspaper, told Xinhua.
"This was caused by a rise in raw material prices and a decline in global manufacturing," he added.
The number of private cars imported in September increased by 29.8 percent year-on-year to 16,705, the authority's data show.
However, this is still a low number, as the monthly increase was recorded due to the significantly smaller figure of September 2021, it noted.
