PM Modi's Uzbekistan visit: Smita Pant says trade, critical minerals, connectivity, MoUs on agenda

Tashkent (Uzbekistan), August 28, 2026 (ANI): Visuals from Tashkent ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Uzbekistan tomorrow. Speaking about the visit, India’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Smita Pant, said the agenda is comprehensive, covering trade and investment, development cooperation, culture, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, traditional medicine, agriculture and fintech. She noted that bilateral trade has increased by 300% and Indian investments in Uzbekistan by more than 700% since PM Modi’s last bilateral visit in 2015. Several MoUs are also expected to be signed, while both sides will discuss long-term arrangements for critical mineral supplies and ways to address connectivity bottlenecks to further boost trade between the two countries.
