New Delhi, Mar 13 (ANI): A new study has revealed that if one consumes proteins from various varieties of sources, then there is a lower risk of developing high blood pressure. This research was conducted on nearly 12,200 adults in China. This suggests that consuming a balanced diet with a moderate amount of protein from diverse food sources might help prevent new-onset hypertension. The story was published in the journal, 'American Heart Association'. Nearly half of the U.S. population has hypertension, or high blood pressure -- one of the leading contributors to cardiovascular disease. When left untreated, high blood pressure damages the circulatory system and is a significant contributing factor to heart attack, stroke and other health conditions. There is a strong association between poor diet and increased risk of cardiovascular diseases. Those who ate four or more protein sources a week had 66 per cent lower risk of high BP compared to those who had two or less protein sources. Experts recommend eating a well-balanced diet, exercising, and getting enough sleep to keep blood pressure in check.
